Conceição Amaral holds a degree in Art History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra (1990), and a postgraduate qualification in Cultural Management in Cities from INDEG/ISCTE, Lisbon (2002).

Between 2015 and 2019, she served as Executive Administrator of the Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva Foundation (FRESS), where she was responsible for finance, human resources, conservation and restoration, production, training, commercial operations, and communications. During this period, she also directed the Museum of Portuguese Decorative Arts and the Institute of Arts and Crafts, now Fressforma - Professional Training Centre, as well as managing Manufactum - Fress Portugal.

Her career also includes founding and serving as Executive Director of TerraCulta – Consultoria, Produção e Gestão Cultural Lda, a cultural consultancy and production company (2004-2015), and acting as Executive Commissioner of the exhibition LUSA – The Portuguese Matrix in Brazil (2006-2007). She was the Coordinator of the Portuguese Network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures (2005-2008) and Director of the Silves Archaeological Museum (2003-2006). Earlier in her career, she worked as a consultant for the National Commission for the Commemorations of the Portuguese Discoveries, coordinating around 60 international exhibitions.

She is also an author and lecturer in the field of cultural heritage, having published several articles and participated in numerous conferences and seminars both in Portugal and abroad.

In September 2019, she was elected as a member of the Cultural Council and Coordinator of the Portuguese Network of the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship. Since April 2019, she has also been coordinating the working group on Art, Culture, and Heritage at the invitation of the board of the Portuguese Foundation Centre.

In December 2019, she assumed the role of President of the Board of Directors of OPART.
